Fishing Village

  Oktyabrskaya ul.     22 May 2018
The Fishing Village, situated on the banks of the River Pregel between the Honey Bridge and High Bridge, recreates a slice of the city's pre-war fishing quarter with a series of cafes, restaurants and hotels housed within old German-style architecture and a 31-metre high lighthouse. While the picturesque setting makes for a very pleasant afternoon stroll or a carefree coffee, for a token 50-rouble entrance fee the lighthouse also gives a great view out over the river and Kant Island, as well as access to a small but fascinating collection of artefacts unearthed on the site before construction began in 2006, including swords, kitchen utensils and shoes.
